Organizing Your Space While Stuck Inside

In these winter months, especially after the holidays, we are trapped indoors, staring at the same four walls and same piles of stuff. With the amount of time we spent in our homes last year, I’m sure there are a few projects you envisioned. Until we’re fully out of quarantine, use the time to follow through with those projects. Maybe you’ll fall so in love with your home that you won’t even want to leave when restrictions loosen!

Marie Kondo is a household name, but what is her method, exactly? Her own site, konmarie.com, explains.

“The KonMari Method™ encourages tidying by category – not by location – beginning with clothes, then moving on to books, papers, komono (miscellaneous items), and, finally, sentimental items. Keep only those things that speak to the heart, and discard items that no longer spark joy. Thank them for their service – then let them go.”

The site says that people connect to this philosophy worldwide because it is effective, but also because of the emphasis on mindfulness.

For more information on Marie Kondo, her philosophy, and living more mindfully, check out her Netflix series, buy her book, or visit her website, konmarie.com
